I am so excited to be a participant in this bead soup party. My partner for my first ever bead soup party is Cynthia Abner of the blog createdtreasures.blogspot.com. A big Thank You! to Cynthia. Be sure to check out Cynthia's blog to see the soup I sent her and the creation she made with it. I can't wait to see!!
We communicated via Facebook and it turns out she is in the medical field just like me! What a coinky dink.
Anyway, we sent each other our bead soups and boy did she send me a soup that I would never have picked for myself. You see, that is part of the challenge, to send folks things that challenge them and that they wouldn't necessarily pick themselves.
We all get in a rut and kind of do the same things over and over and work with the same types of beads etc. So this party is to get us designers out of our comfort zones and into something new and challenging. The soup that Cynthia sent is a really pretty flower focal with coordinating beads.
The rule is that you have to use the focal and the clasp that your partner sent. Unfortunately for me, I totally lost the clasp which was a pretty butterfly toggle clasp. I have looked and looked for it. My excuse is that I moved during the last months and I have lost plenty of stuff. Don't know if it is lost or if it's in a box somewhere. So I ask forgiveness for being so thoughtless as to lose part of my soup!!
Anyway I pondered and pondered what to design. I finally decided the flower needed to definitely be showcased with another finding. I used some of the coordinating beads sent by Cynthia and some of my own beads (those that I could find anyway). I found an old jewelry piece to attach to the focal flower and then wire-wrapped coordinating beads.
I think it turned out lovely. My mom already has her eye on it. She said that the flower looks like it belongs on a bush or tree it's so pretty. So guess what she will be getting along with her other Mother's Day gifts!!
I would like to thank Lori Anderson of prettythingsblog.com for hosting this awesome event for all of us national and international designers. This lady by all accounts has had some health challenges but has hung in there and hosted this party. What a trooper!! Thanks Lori and helpers for all of your hard work. God bless you.
And please follow this link http://www.prettythingsblog.com/2014/05/welcome-to-8th-bead-soup-blog-party.html to enjoy the other designers bead soup designs (scroll down to find them all). Believe me it's gonna take awhile to get through them all but I am psyched to get going and see what others have done. Enjoy!!
Enjoy looking at the pictures of the beginning to the end of my design journey with this bead soup. I really enjoyed it and i'm looking forward to the next one.

ReplyDeleteVintage yet contemporary in design.I'm enjoying the soft colors too! Perfect for spring. Soup-er!
ReplyDeleteIt came out lovely. The gold bar really helps bring out and balance the focal. You did a great job! So sorry you lost the clasp in your move. Someday you will find It in the future for another lovely piece. Thanks so much for being my partner.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and delicate focal. Too bad about your clasp. Anyway, it is a great job! Jean

ReplyDeleteVery lovely! That flower is stunning!
ReplyDeleteSo feminine!! Well done!
ReplyDeleteNicely done with the necklace. Sorry to hear the clasp is MIA. I can't think of a time I've moved when I didn't lose something. It's frustrating but seemingly inevitable. Hopefully it turns up soon and inspires another lovely design.
ReplyDeletesad you lost that clasp!!! But what a sweet necklace you made with the focal!! Seriously adorable!
ReplyDeleteYou could not have set that focal off any better, lovely necklace!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely necklace! Too bad about the clasp! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat flower is really set off by the filigree piece. Inspired! No wonder your Mum has her eyes on it!
ReplyDeleteOh my, what a beautiful pendant! And you showcased it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty romantic piece! Fantastic job with your soup!
ReplyDeleteLove the flower focal... great job
ReplyDeleteBeautiful soft pastels. I like how you used the filigree rectangle as a connector for the flower and the rosary style chain. Very simple and fresh. Reminds me of a vintage1930s necklace.
ReplyDeleteI see your design as rather elegant. It makes me think of English period piece dramas as though one of the female leads should be wearing it. I like that you added the gold piece, and the focal is stunning. It all comes together perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThis necklace is so elegant ... I like it very much!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - love the addition of the brass piece - it looks very Downton Abby :-)
ReplyDeleteWe'll I betcha by golly your mom will wear this proudly...It is so spring/summery and pretty ta boot....that flower does look real. It is simply so shabby chic....I love it
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty and feminine look :) That filigree could be a focal in it's own right, love that!
ReplyDeleteWow you had quite a peculiar and difficult focal to use, I love how you enhanced it with the gold filigree. Great idea
ReplyDeleteDawn - how sad you can't find the clasp. It's not lost - it's just displaced and one day you will miraculously find it and made another pretty thang. The flower focal is lovely - I hope you wear the necklace you made. You'll get a pile of compliments when you do. Rose
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful necklace! I love how you showcased that lovely focal... wonderful work! :)
ReplyDeleteThe necklace is fabulous. So very pretty and feminine. That filigree component really adds an oomph.
ReplyDeleteThat focal! You worked out a beautiful design with it! And if you're like me, you'll find the clasp when you least expect it. I had that happen a couple bead soups ago and I found it a month later. I'm blaming the cats!
ReplyDeletesuper framed focal!!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Very demure and feminine! Excellent work!
ReplyDeleteVery creative way to present the beautiful focal. Hope the clasp shows up soon.
ReplyDeleteI love what you did with the focal. You necklace is very romantic and dainty. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteLovely soup and adorable necklace!
ReplyDeleteI like the way that you used the focal and how you added the large filigree bar. It really brings attention to the focal.

The filigree rectangle is such a clever way to set off that romantic focal bead. You did a really nice job with your soup!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty pendant, I like how you used the filigree to create a different and unique neclace.
ReplyDeleteJackie
It's a stunning necklace. I love the added filigree.
ReplyDeleteThe filigree adds wonderful structure to the design. Great work.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very pretty necklace, very rich looking, Great design!
ReplyDeleteHi Dawn, your necklace is truly beautiful. I adore that flower focal and putting the filigree piece above it really draws the eyes toward it.
ReplyDeleteAn adorable necklace you made. I love the oriental touch wich comes from the filigree bar I think.
ReplyDeleteI love the unique necklace you made with your soup! Great job!
ReplyDeleteLove that flower focal and what a great way to show it off!
ReplyDeleteLove that necklace, great use of the gold filigree piece. I'm inspired to see what might be made of a similar vintage brooch I thing I have in my stash.
ReplyDeleteWhat a really pretty necklace! It's both elegant and sweet. Wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, your mom is right :-) I think you can make her very happy!
ReplyDeleteI myself like to combine green and pink in jewelry making (not otherwise, though) so I liked your design at first glance. The plate gives it a whole new look, new character - it claims attention, it's an eye-catcher!
ReplyDeleteThat is really Beautiful, it really shows off that AMAZING Focal!!! Love Love Love it!!! Have a Blessed Day!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry you lost the clasp. it really is lovely...maybe it will turn up again. I absolutely love that necklace. I can certainly understand why your Mom has her eye on it. It is spectacular!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great design idea that you came up with for the use of the filigree. For me it seems the flower & the filagree are both focals in this necklace.
